This guide shows you how to create a startbuddi account, verify your email address and get to your workspace. It takes about five minutes. Creating an account is free, and the Free plan has no time limit, so you can try things before choosing a paid plan on the pricing page.

If a teammate has invited you to their workspace, use the link in your invitation email instead. It signs you up with the invited email address and takes you straight into their workspace, skipping the setup questions.

What you need to create a startbuddi account

  • An email address you can open now, ideally the one you use for work, or a Google account.
  • Your business name. A working name is fine, and you can change it later in Settings.
  • A password of at least 8 characters, if you sign up with email.

Steps

  1. Open the sign-up page

Go to app.startbuddi.com/signup, or use any sign-up button on startbuddi.com. You will see Create your account.

  2. Sign up with Google, or fill in your details

The quickest way is Continue with Google. Tick the box to agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy first, then choose your Google account. You won't need to verify your email separately.

To sign up with email instead, fill in First name, Last name, Business name, Work email and a Password of at least 8 characters. Check your email address carefully: a typo is the most common reason the verification email never arrives.

  3. Agree to the terms and create your workspace

Tick I agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, then click Build my workspace. If you came from a paid plan on the pricing page, the button says Continue to payment and takes you to checkout once your account is created.

  4. Find your verification email

The screen changes to Check your email. We send one email to the address you entered, with two things in it: a verification link and a 6-digit code. Keep the startbuddi tab open and look in your inbox. If it isn't there after a couple of minutes, check your spam or promotions folder.

  5. Verify your email address

Do one of these, not both:

    • Type the 6-digit code into Verification code on the startbuddi tab and click Verify and continue.
    • Or click the link in the email. It verifies your address and signs you in automatically.
  6. Answer the setup questions

Once you are verified, startbuddi asks a few quick questions: your name and business, what you do, the kind of work you do and who you sell to. Chip uses your answers to set up a page, a contact form, a draft invoice and a sample contact for you. Some questions can be skipped and finished later from Home. Then you land in your workspace. The next guide, how to set up your startbuddi workspace, walks you through what to do first.

Troubleshooting

It says my code is invalid or expired

Check you typed the newest code, with no spaces. If it still fails, click the verification link in the same email instead, which works on its own.

The verification link says verification failed

The link may have expired or already been used. Click Back to sign in and try signing in. If you are asked to confirm your email first, choose Email code on the sign-in page and click Email me a sign-in code to get a fresh code. If that doesn't work, contact support.

I never received the verification email

Look in spam, promotions and any filtered folders, and search your inbox for startbuddi. If you spot a typo in the address you used, sign up again with the correct one.

I signed up with Google. Do I need a password?

No. Use Continue with Google each time you sign in. You don't need to verify your email separately either.
