Time tracking

Where did Tuesday go? Now you'll know.

Time tracking for small teams, built into your tasks. Start a timer on the task you're doing, mark what the client pays for, and see the week for you or the whole team, with the billable value worked out at your project rate.

Start with the one thing you need. The rest is there when you're ready. Free plan, no card needed. Or book a demo.

Timer & week

Press Start. Do the work. Press Stop.

Pick a task and press Start timer. When you stop, the time lands on the task and in your week. One timer runs at a time, so starting another task's timer offers to switch. A timer left running overnight stops counting at 24 hours.

  • Start timer from the Time page or from inside any task
  • Billable time and its value for the week, at each project's hourly rate
  • Previous week, This week and Next

Work → Time: Start timer, My time and Team time, and the week as a grid of tasks by day, with totals.

Log time

Forgot the timer again? Type it in.

Pick the task, type the time ("1:30", "1h 30m" and "90m" all work), the date and a note about what you did, and tick Billable if the client pays for it. It takes about as long as reading this sentence.

  • Time in whatever format your fingers prefer
  • A note on every entry
  • Billable or not, entry by entry
Workload

Spot the burnout before it books a holiday.

Owners, admins and managers get Team time for everyone's hours, and Workload: four weeks of each person's estimated hours against their capacity. Capacity starts at 40 hours, you can change it per person, and approved leave and public holidays come off it.

  • Estimates are spread across working days from start to due date
  • Drag a task onto someone with room, or pick Reassign
  • Tasks with no estimate or no date are counted separately, never guessed

Work → Workload: each teammate's hours per week and how full each week is against their capacity, four weeks at a time.

Hours vs budget

See the overrun coming, not in the post-mortem.

Give a project an hours budget and an hourly rate on its Budget tab. The time your team logs turns into time logged, spent so far, still to do and cost to complete, with an hours burn-down chart.

  • Hours budget and hourly rate on each project
  • Time logged, Spent so far, Still to do and Cost to complete
  • The same rate values billable time on the Time page

Timers you may already pay for.

Most project tools now have a timer. The catch is usually which plan it lives on.

Questions about time tracking

Can I track billable hours per project?
Yes. Tick Billable on each entry. Set an hourly rate on the project's Budget tab and the week shows the billable value too.
Is there a timer linked to tasks?
Yes. Press Start timer on a task. When you stop, the time is saved on that task.
Can I see how many hours my team logged this week?
Yes, if you're a manager, admin or owner. Team time shows everyone's entries for the week.
Does it work as a freelancer time tracker?
Yes. Log your own hours, mark what's billable and see the billable value for the week, free.
Can I turn my hours into an invoice?
Not in one click. Your hours show their billable value, and you send the invoice from Money Manager.
Do these hours show up in People timesheets?
No. People has its own clock-in and clock-out for attendance. Work time is for tasks and projects.

Stop guessing where the week went.

A timer on every task, billable hours with a value, and a workload grid that shows who has room. Free to start.
