How to embed a startbuddi form on your website

To embed a form on your website, publish the form, open its Share tab, copy the IFrame embed code and paste it into your site. The form then appears inside your page, and every answer is saved in startbuddi exactly as it would be from the hosted link. That means your follow-up emails, contact updates and automations all keep working, whichever website the answer came from.

What you need to embed a form on your website

  • A published form. If you have not made one yet, follow how to build a form first.
  • A website where you can paste HTML, such as a “custom HTML” or “embed” block in your site builder.
  • Edit access to Forms. Embedding works on every plan, including Free.

No website yet? You can still share the direct link, or put the form on a startbuddi landing page instead.

Steps

  1. Publish the form

Open Forms and click the form you want. If the header says Draft, click Publish. An embedded form only takes answers while it is live.

  2. Open the Share tab

Click the Share tab at the top of the form. You will see Direct link at the top and Advanced share below it, with three options: IFrame embed, Form endpoint and Popup button.

  3. Copy the embed code

To show the form inside a page, use IFrame embed and click Copy iframe. The code loads a clean version of the form made for embedding.

If you would rather keep the page tidy, use Popup button instead. It adds an "Open form" button that opens the form in an overlay when clicked.

  4. Paste it into your website

In your website editor, add an HTML, code or embed block where you want the form, paste the code and save. Popup button code includes a small script, so your site must allow scripts in that block.

The iframe code sets a height of 760 pixels. If your form is much shorter or longer, change the height number in the code before you paste it.

  5. Send a test answer

Open your web page, fill in the form and submit it. Then go back to the form in startbuddi and open the Submissions tab. Your test should be at the top.

Want a message when real answers arrive? Turn on Email me on new submission in the form's Settings tab.

  6. Share the direct link as well

The same form can live in more than one place. Under Direct link, click Copy and paste the link into WhatsApp, your Instagram bio or your email signature. Answers from every place land in the same Submissions list, and each response shows where it came from.

Troubleshooting

The embedded form is blank or says it is not available

The form is probably paused or still a draft. Open it in Forms and click Publish, then reload your web page.

The form is cut off or has a big gap under it

Change the height value in the iframe code to suit your form, then paste the new code over the old one.

My site builder removed the popup button code

Some builders strip scripts from HTML blocks. Use the IFrame embed instead, or link a normal button on your site to the form's direct link.

I already have my own HTML form. Can I keep it?

Yes. Use Form endpoint on the Share tab, or Endpoints in the Forms menu, and point your own form at that address. Answers are saved in Forms just the same.
