Statement of Work (SOW) Template
Free Word template for consultants defining a specific project under a broader agreement.
A Statement of Work exists for a specific situation: you have a broader consulting agreement with a client, and now you need to define one particular project under it, without renegotiating the whole relationship.
This template covers scope, deliverables, milestones, fees for this specific engagement, and acceptance criteria, so both sides agree on what "done" looks like before work starts.

Questions
Do I need a master agreement before using an SOW?
Ideally yes. An SOW usually references a broader Master Services Agreement or Consulting Agreement that covers the legal terms, while the SOW covers project-specific scope and pricing.
Can I use this without a master agreement?
Yes, if it’s a one-off project, just note that in that case, the SOW itself is effectively your contract, so make sure it includes clear payment and termination terms.
